Share performance 2008 – 2012

During the period from 2008 to the end of 2010, the LLB bearer share had always outperformed its banking peer group in Europe. The LLB bearer share oscillated between CHF 70.– and CHF 80.–. In 2011, however, bank shares came under particular pressure. The debt crisis of the euro countries, exchange rate turbulence and the general decline in confidence in financial institutions led to a fall in share prices in Europe. The LLB bearer share was also not able to escape this trend. Following the publication of the unsatisfactory interim financial report containing information about a larger allowance in the credit portfolio at the end of September 2011 and following involvement in US taxation issues, the bearer share markedly declined further and lost in value compared to its peer group.

While the highly volatile European banking sector slightly recovered in 2012, the LLB bearer share remained under pressure as a result of the unsatisfactory Annual Financial Report for 2011 and the ongoing negotiations concerning US taxation issues. In 2012, the total return of the LLB bearer share stood at minus 29.5 percent. The LLB bearer share finished close to its year’s low at an exchange rate of CHF 29.05.
